LASER HAIR REMOVAL

Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal works by using a concentrated beam of light that is absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in hair follicles, converting the light energy into heat which damages the follicle and inhibits future hair growth; essentially the laser targets and destroys the hair at its root, leading to a significant reduction in hair growth over multiple treatments.

Not everyone is a candidate for laser hair removal. Schedule a free consultation with us and we can determine if you are! If you are a candidate for laser, completing around 6 sessions before electrolysis can speed up the process.

VERSO OPTIX PRO DIODE LASER HAIR REMOVAL

  1. Targets melanin within hair follicles to safely destroy hair and disrupt its growth
  2. Relatively painless
  3. Significantly decreases hair growth
  4. Inhibits the development of ingrown hairs
  5. Deeply and safely penetrates the skin to destroy hair follicles at the root
  6. Reduces darkness in areas like the armpits
  7. May experience mild sunburn sensation for up to 72 hours
  1. Combines 3 wavelengths of 808nm, 755nm, and 1064nm for elevated benefits and faster results.
  2. The three different wavelengths of Verso Optix Pro are absorbed by the melanin of the hair. This is transformed into heat and destroys the hair bulb through a process called selective photothermolysis, all without affecting the underlying tissue
  3. Laser consists of a monochromatic (single) light with a defined simple wavelength. Its design uses laser light emissions, known as photoepilation. It prevents the dispersion of energy and keeps it flowing in the same direction, enhancing the effectiveness of every single shot during each client’s session.

LASER PRE/POST CARE

LASER PRE-TREATMENT CARE

For the best experience possible, here are some suggestions:

  1. Be sure to shave 24-48 hours before your appointment. Shaving too close to your appointment could lead to additional irritation.

  1. Please refrain from wearing any jewelry or any shiny accessories or be prepared to remove them or cover them during your treatment. The laser can bounce of shiny objects and be redirected so we do this for safety.

  1. We suggest wearing loose fitting clothing that is light colored if possible. The laser is attracted to darker colors. Putting tight fitting clothes on after receiving laser may be irritating to the treated area.

LASER AFTERCARE

For 24 hours after treatment:

  1. Avoid heat, sweat, steam rooms, saunas, and exercise
  2. Wear loose-fitting clothes and avoid tight garments over treated areas

For at least 3 days after treatment:

  1. Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds
  2. Apply SPF 30+ sunscreen daily and wear protective clothing
  3. Avoid harsh soaps, scrubs, oils, retinols, and peels
  4. No hot baths/showers or swimming. Use cool water and gentle soap
  5. Don’t scrub, scratch, or shave
  6. Moisturize with hydrocortisone 1% mixed with Vaseline® or Aquaphor® as needed

Until your next treatment:

  1. Only shave in the treatment area; avoid tweezing, waxing, or other hair removal methods
  2. Don’t bleach hair in the treated area

Questions Answered

How many treatments are required to start seeing results?

We suggest starting with a package of 6 sessions. After the 6 sessions are complete,  we can reevaluate and decide if more laser is required, or if you should start electrolysis.

We also have a single session option and packages of 3. We don’t usually recommend more than 12 sessions in any one area.

How often should appointments be scheduled?

Roughly every 4-6 weeks.

Does it hurt?

Our laser is as comfortable as hair removal lasers get. The hand piece is cold which soothes the skin during the treatment. Sometimes the sensation is very minimal and sometimes it’s a little spicy, but it’s quick.

What side effects might be expected?

The most common side effects are minor and last 1 to 3 days. These side effects include:

  1. Discomfort
  2. Swelling
  3. Redness

Other possible rare side effects include:

  1. Blistering
  2. Herpes simplex (cold sores) outbreaks
  3. Infections
  4. Scarring
  5. Skin lightening or darkening

Can anyone get laser?

Technically, yes. However, we are extra careful with darker skin tones. The hair color needs to be darker than the skin color because the laser works on the pigment of the hair. We always do a test pulse patch test before beginning laser treatments to prevent any adverse effects.

We also exercise extra caution when working with clients who have PCOS and are experiencing hair growth on the jawline and chin area. In some cases, laser can stimulate more hair growth. However, in some cases, it works well. If you have PCOS, please schedule a consultation.

where on the body can be treated with laser hair removal?

We can treat any area on the face and body except for nostrils, ears, and eyebrows.

Is laser hair removal permanent?

It is not 100% permanent, but most people see a 90% reduction in growth. This is why we love to pair laser hair removal and electrolysis! Reduce the amount of hair growth and then remove the remaining hair.
